Not by making the successful transition from legendary player to masterful coach, however, but by suffering a wardrobe malfunction during a game.This time it was Zidane’s turn to suffer an embarrassing tear on the touchline, as the Madrid boss managed to rip a huge hole in his trousers while jumping and spinning around during an enthusiastic sideshow to Cristiano Ronaldo’s brilliant hat-trick against Wolfsburg.

The victory ensured that Madrid’s hopes of the undecima – their 11th European Cup triumph – are still very much alive.
