Kylian Mbappe has still not renewed his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and the coronavirus crisis has brought all football-related activity to a halt, and that includes transfer business.

And this means that Mbappe’s contracted days at PSG continue to tick down.

The 21-year-old’s deal runs out on June 30, 2022 and Real Madrid continue to monitor his situation closely.

If the Frenchman has still not renewed by June next year, then that will almost certainly be a sign of his intention to leave Paris.

In that circumstance, Mbappe would be free to enter into negotiations with other clubs from January 2022.

That would be what Los Blancos hope for as they bid to strengthen their frontline and then make a move in summer of 2021 for the French striker.

Real Madrid know that in the next transfer window, which may be shortened to just August, it will be impossible to sign Mbappe as PSG are not willing to negotiate at any price.

It’s not a question of money and Los Blancos will have to wait for just one year to open any talks given the player will be free to walk away at no cost soon after.

Logic would dictate that if Mbappe accepts the astronomical contract offer that has already been put on the table by PSG, then Real Madrid can forget about signing the youngster for the next five years.

As a result, they would have to change focus to reinforce the frontline, especially with Karim Benzema turning 33 years old this year, it’s a position that needs attention.
