Male professional dancer accused of sexually assaulting five other female artists during a single warm-up session for a routine at a college

A male professional dancer is accused of sexually assaulting five other female artists during a single warm-up session for a routine at a college, a court has heard. 

Nathan Goodman, 36, a graduate of the BRIT School, is alleged to have inappropriately touched the women at a dance school in central London. 

Prosecutor Jonathan Bryan said: ‘Mr Goodman is a dancer and on 17 April last year he assisted the choreographer with a number of dances in what is described as a warm-up session.’

During the warm-up session, Goodman allegedly touched five of the dancers inappropriately.

‘This was an abuse of trust,’ said Mr Bryan. ‘He was in a position of trust over the dancers he was assisting.’

Goodman denies five counts of sexual assault in relation to April 17 and one like charge relating to an incident last April 4.

Judge David Richards fixed his trial for April 22 next year at Inner London Crown Court and told Goodman: ‘It is a very long time away and I’m sorry for that.

‘It’s a long time for you to wait and it’s a long time for everyone to wait… it’s just the pressure of work in the courts.’

Goodman was granted conditional bail and is barred from contacting any member of the associated dance company or any of the alleged victims.

He was told not to work with any female dancer without a chaperone, and not to choreograph or dance with any female dancer that involves physical contact.

Goodman, of Southwark, will also face a further case management hearing on 20 September and a pre-trial review on February 21 next year.
