A Nigerian man has taken to X, formerly Twitter, to accuse police officers attached to Awkunanaw Police Station, MTD, Garriki, Enugu, of kidnapping his brother and robbing him of ₦1 million.
In his post, he alleged that his younger brother was abducted by some officers while traveling to Umuahia.
According to him, the officers diverted his brother to a remote village and forced him to withdraw ₦1 million from his account at a POS shop.
He wrote: “Nigerian police officers in Enugu kidnapped my younger brother, took him to an unknown village, and took ₦1 million from him, just now.”
In a subsequent update, the man revealed that the officers responsible had been identified and the stolen money recovered.
He credited the swift intervention of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Awkunanaw Police Station, Mr. Chukwuegu Longinus, for resolving the case.
“₦1 million recovered from Nigerian police officers attached to Awkunanaw Police Station, MTD, Garriki, Enugu,” he stated, adding:
“Thanks to DPO Awkunanaw Police Station, Mr. Chukwuegu Longinus. Immediately I reported the case, he drove straight to the checkpoint, identified the officers involved, and mandated them to refund the money. Omoh, it’s a mess here in Nigeria.”
He also shared photos of the recovered money and expressed gratitude to those who assisted in retrieving it.
The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage online, has drawn comments from concerned individuals, with many calling for stricter measures to curb misconduct by law enforcement officers.
