Man arrested after pouring sanitiser on girlfriend’s private part and setting it on fire (video)

The live-in partner of a 19-year-old female student has been arrested by the Gurugram Police for allegedly assaulting her, leading to her being hospitalised in critical condition. 

The mother of the victim has claimed that the accused held her daughter captive in a room for three days, r@ped her and subjected her to brutal torture, inflicting burn and stab injuries. 

Speaking to a news agency on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the woman said that her daughter called her on February 19 night and told her about the ordeal. 

“She told me that her friend Shivam had been torturing her for the past three days. She said that he would k!ll her that day. After that, I called the Badshahpur police station and they saved my daughter,” said the woman as she was sobbing inconsolably. 

The victim, presently receiving treatment at a hospital in Delhi, befriended the accused male, also aged 19, on a social media platform. She studies bio-technology at a prominent college in Gurugram. 

According to the police, a team rescued the young woman on February 19 after they received a call from her mother and admitted her to a government hospital in Sector 10. 

The victim told the police that she shared a room with the accused and he had suspected her conduct and repeatedly assaulted her. 

Preliminary investigation had revealed that the victim and the accused had met in September last year and their families had even discussed their wedding, the police said. 

Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar on Sunday, February 22, said that the victim was under treatment and stable. He said all relevant sections of law, including r@pe charges, had been invoked in the case based on a complaint of the victim and more sections could be added based on the opinion of the doctors treating her. 

Mr. Kumar said the police had categorised the said case as “Identified Crime”. Such cases are regularly monitored and the presence of witnesses is ensured to expedite the trial. 

The police would seek maximum punishment for the accused in the case, he added.
