Manchester City began their EFL title defence in style in 3-1 win over Southampton with Sergio Aguero scoring a brace and Nicolas Otamendi also on the score sheet for the defending Champions.

Manchester City had an easy first 45 minutes against Southampton in the EFL Cup with Nicolas Otamendi breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute and in the 38th minute Sergio Aguero doubled the lead. The Champions have more ball possession and controlled the game with ease in the opening 45 minutes of the encounter. The Saints posed no threat to Manchester City as they have no single shot on goal.The first half ended in favour of Pep Guardiola’s team.In the second half, Aguero made it 3-0  for the home team after he reacted quickly to a convert a loose ball into the net, Southampton scored a goal via Stephens Jack but it was not enough to turn around the game.
