Manchester City have been fined €3,000 for an issue with their kit during the Champions League game with Real Madrid last month.
Pep Guardiola’s side took the advantage in the last-16 tie thanks to a thrilling comeback with goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne giving them a 2-1 advantage for the second leg after Isco had put the La Liga giants ahead.
However, the Blues have been deemed to have committed a kit infringement with their non-playing tops. The equipment rules from UEFA state that :
“Only one single element of sponsor advertising is permitted, in the following maximum sizes:
a) 20cm² on anthem jackets;
b) 200cm² on all other non-playing attire tops.”
City were deemed to have breached this rule and because it was not their first offence were fined rather than simply warned.
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has warned that the season could be lost if football does not get underway before the end of June.
A videoconference on Wednesday could point to the latest plans for how the Champions League and other competitions will be finished as organisers try to find the best way of resuming the season when it is safe and appropriate to do so.
The meeting will look at developments across all UEFA national team and club competitions, as well as discussing progress at FIFA and European level on matters such as player contracts and the transfer system.
