Man spends ₦6.7m on girlfriend and her family, returns home to meet her with another man

An X user has shared a detailed account of how his relationship ended despite years of financial and emotional investment.

According to him, he met the woman when she was working at a salon and struggling to stay in school. He said he supported her by paying her tuition for four semesters, buying her a laptop, and covering her academic expenses.

He also extended support to her family — funding her brothers’ needs and settling hospital bills for her mother.

Beyond that, he rented an apartment for her, paid two years’ rent, gave her a monthly allowance, and handled other lifestyle expenses, including gadgets and trips.

He said he saw it as building a future together and had already introduced her to his family as someone he intended to marry.

However, during a six-week business trip, things changed. He returned unannounced and claimed he found her in the apartment with another man he had previously known as her “course mate.”

According to him, when confronted, she told him he didn’t own her despite everything he had done.

He said he walked away from the relationship immediately, cutting off contact with her and her family.

Reflecting on the experience, he revealed he had spent about ₦6.7 million over three years, which he described as acts of love, not obligation.
