Man travels from Ibadan to Lagos, dumps Facebook girlfriend at park for looking different

A Nigerian lady has shared a humorous yet unforgettable experience about a man and his Facebook girlfriend’s online romance gone wrong.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, she recounted how a man traveled from Ibadan to Lagos to meet her friend, only to abandon her at the motor park upon seeing her in person.

According to the lady, the incident happened several years ago but remains a lasting memory. She explained that her friend had met the man on Facebook, and after months of online dating, he decided to visit her in Lagos.

However, when he finally saw her in person, he was visibly shocked, claiming she looked different from the photos she had sent him and the ones on Facebook.

Recalling the moment, she wrote: “I just randomly remembered something that happened to my bestie and me in 2014. She met a guy on Facebook, and they started dating online.”

“When he finally traveled from Ibadan to Lagos to see her, I accompanied her to the park to welcome him. But I noticed she was nervous.”

“She asked me to meet him first, but I waved at him to come over instead. As soon as he saw her, he exclaimed, ‘Wunmi! Wunmi!! Wunmi!!! But you weren’t this fat in your pictures!’ He then pulled out his phone, scrolling through her photos in disbelief.”

“Right there at the park, he refused to follow us to his hotel. He kept saying, ‘I didn’t know she was like this; I can’t go with her.’ We begged him, but he insisted and returned to Ibadan that same evening.”

She further shared that the man insulted them in English before switching to Yoruba, comparing their appearances to “rice and beans” and calling them opposites.

When asked whether her friend had misled him about her looks, she clarified: “No, she didn’t pretend. It was really her picture, but the filters made her face look slimmer. He knew she was fat, but he wasn’t expecting the level of fat he saw. He was shocked.”
