Manchester United are in a desperate need of a centre-back. They were in such situation last summer and nothing changed in the meantime. Now, after months of trying to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City, there is the possibility that the move will not happen. Mostly, the deal could fall through due to transfer window ending in just over a week and now the Devils are reportedly looking for a plan B.

And that plan could be signing Samuel Umtiti from Barcelona. According to Le10Sport, Man United are looking at the French centre-back as a cheaper alternative to the Leicester City man. They have reportedly enquired over a deal for Umtiti and according to the same source, they are ready to bid as high as 50 million euros for him.

Umtiti did not play much last season and fell out of pecking order in Ernesto Valverde’s team, which United see as their chance.
