Manchester United great Dimitar Berbatov has compared Real Madrid ace Luka Modric to Barcelona stars Xavi Hernandez and Andreas Iniesta.

According to report in Mundo Deportivo, Berbatov heaped praise on Modric after the Croatian midfielder put an eye-catching performance in 2018 helping Real Madrid to win three Champions League winners and finished in the second in the World Cup.

Modric is one of the best midfielders of this generation and arguably the best of the decade.

Though Xavi and Iniesta were two other stars that are well known for their ability to control games and create for teammates. They had different skillsets from Modric, but their impact on football was also quite profound.

Berbatov offered high praise to Modric, saying that like Xavi and Iniesta, Modric was one of the best of the decade.

“Modric is at the height of Iniesta or Xavi, without a doubt, I have no doubt that he is one of the three or four best ‘medios’ of the decade.”

Real Madrid fans see Modric, 35 as the better player than Xavi and Iniesta given his longevity, Champions League influence, Ballon d’Or victory in 2018, and defensive contributions.

Some even tipped Toni Kroos as the fourth, the German star has been consistent for Real Madrid since his arrival after the 2014 World Cup.

Modric’s contract runs out in 2020-2021 season but Real Madrid could renew his contract for another season.
