Manchester United are reportedly planning on making a serious attempt to sign Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti this summer.

The 26-year-old is in the midst of his fourth season at the Nou Camp but has never managed to truly establish himself.

United and Arsenal are both interested in him but it is the Red Devils who are willing to make the more significant effort to do so, according to Sport.

United want a left-sided central defender and Quique Setien would be prepared to allow Umtiti to leave for the right price, despite being fond of the player.

Napoli’s Kalidou Kouliably has also been discusssed but Umtiti would be the more afforddqble optiuon.,

The Frenchman has started just nine La Liga matches this term and has largely played second-fiddle to Clément Lenglet since his compatriot joined Barca in the summer of 2018.
