Manchester United winger, Antony ‘flies back to England to face police over allegations on attacking lover

Manchester United star, Antony is reportedly flying back to England to face police over allegations of domestic abuse.

Recall the Brazilian winger was granted a leave of absence by the Premier League club earlier this month, after his former lover Gabriella Cavallin claimed he had attacked her on January 15 in a hotel in Manchester.

On Tuesday night, when Antony was about to board a flight into Spain and onto Manchester, the Sun published photographs of him at Sao Paulo airport. Antony’s going to meet with cops in the next couple of days, denying all these allegations.

“Antony insists he’s done nothing wrong and is willing to meet with the officers in order to have them question him,” said a source.

“He’s got nothing to hide, and will let them see whatever they want including his cell phone.”

“He’s going to exonerate himself as quickly as he can, so he can get back to his football career without any distractions.

“The photographs, which were published on Tuesday evening, show the Brazilian footballer, 23, traveling with a suitcase and two smaller cabin bags at the airport in Brazil.

Antony, who was not suspended by Manchester United and given full pay during his leave of absence, is facing claims made by three women.

While his ex-girlfriend Cavallin has accused him of assaulting her on four occasions, two more women; law student Rayssa de Freitas and banker Ingrid Lana, have come forward in Brazil to make similar claims of aggressive behaviour.

The following day, Antony released a statement in the wake of these allegations that read: ‘I have agreed with Manchester United to take time off during my investigations into those accusations. It was a mutual decision to keep my squad from being distracted or causing any unnecessary commotion for the club.

‘I want to reiterate my innocence of the things I have been accused of, and I will fully cooperate with the police to help them reach the truth. I look forward to returning to play as soon as possible.’
