Marriage collapses over wife’s refusal to take husband’s surname

A two-year-old marriage has reportedly ended in divorce following a dispute over the wife’s refusal to adopt her husband’s surname.

The revelation was made by Facebook user Iyke Orji, who shared details of the split, attributing it to what he described as a minor issue that could have been resolved with maturity and loyalty.

According to Orji, his friend, the husband, had requested his wife to update her social media handles, bank details, and other official documents to reflect his surname.

However, the wife allegedly refused, citing concerns over her personal identity, online following, and other professional engagements linked to her maiden name.

Despite ongoing discussions about the matter for two years, the couple failed to reach a compromise. The disagreement ultimately led to their divorce, finalized just four days before Orji’s post.

Marriage divorce over surname issue

“So one of my friends just divorced the wife four days ago. A marriage of 2 years. What was the issue? It was something Very little that matured and loyal minds could tackle.

He asked her to get a court affidavit to change even her Bank details, and other stuffs relating to her that bore her father’s name

The lady refused on the grounds that it will ruin her followers, identity and other things and things.
