The Archbishop of Onitsha, His Grace, Most Rev. Val. Okeke has just issued some Stringent Measures for the Prevention of Covid 19 as the Church resumes Common Sacramental life…

1. From Monday 27th April, Only the gathering for celebration of The Holy Mass is permitted in all the parishes for the present since the Holy Mass is the Source and Summit of our Christian life…

2. No Celebration of the Sacrifice of the Holy Mass should last beyond one hour and thirty minutes.

3. The reception of the Holy Communion is still by hand.

4. kiss of Peace is still suspended

5. Every Parish Priest should make provision for water and soap for washing of hands as everyone is encouraged to wash his/her hands for at least 20 secs. Hand sanitisers should also be made available at the church entrance.

6. As the State government has made wearing of facemask compulsory in the State, no body should be allowed into the church gathering without putting on his/her facemask.

7. The Parish Priest and his parish security team should work to maintain reasonable social distancing at all gathering for Eucharistic Sacrifice.
