One of the reasons why Stoke City went for former Nigeria captain John Mikel Obi is to help them as they push for a return to the Premier League.
The ex-Chelsea star is already delivering as he provided a match-winning assist at the weekend to help Stoke City to a precious lone goal away win over Preston North End.
Mikel was back in the Potters starting lineup after he was rested for the Carabao Cup clash with Gillingham FC three days ago.
In the end, the solitary goal from mLee Gregory in the 39th minute was enough for Stoke City to get their first three points in this campaign.
Mikel provided the game-winning assist, with his low cross turned in from close range by the Potters number 19.
After going the whole distance yet again in Saturday’s outing in the Championship, Mikel is now six games shy of reaching 400 appearances for his English clubs having enjoyed a long stint at Chelsea and later at Middlesbrough.
