Fulani socio-cultural association, the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore (MAKH), has claimed that the police and other local security agencies were allegedly killing their members in communities in Zamfara, Benue and Plateau states.
Daily Sun reports that the national president of MAKH, Alhaji Bello Bodejo, stated that the association has called on the relevant state authorities over the incident but to no avail.
Bodejo made this known in Abuja, on Sunday, December 9, alleged that Air Force officials in the state had deliberately killed most members of the association in their various locations in Zamfara state.
Also, Benue state, MAKH national secretary, Saleh Alhassan, disclosed that the state government was using its livestock guard officials to attack and kill its members and dispossess them of their sources of livelihood.
According to Alhassan, “Our people are displaced from their traditional source of livelihood by virtue of the anti-open grazing law in Benue state. Over 300 of our members have been thrown into jail because of the law.
“Others have been killed extra-judiciously by police and other paramilitary officials allegedly recruited by the state.
“Our people are being harassed and intimidated in Benue. We have approached the court and we are optimistic that justice will be given to us.”
Meanwhile, Press had reported that the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, called for a crucial meeting with other Fulani groups over the alleged killing of Fulani people in Taraba state.
The group claimed 24 of its members were killed by other ethnic groups on Saturday, January 6.
Mafindi Danburam who is the northeast zonal chairman of MACBAN said: “Miyetti Allah and other Fulani groups are convening a stakeholders meeting to take a definite stand on this act of wickedness against our members.”
