Model Crush – Flaviana Matata

Tanzanian model Flaviana Matata is one bold black beauty to behold. In 2007 she won the first edition of the Miss Tanzania pageant and went on to represent her country in the Miss Universe pageant the same year.

She became the first contestant from Tanzania to compete at Miss Universe 2007 with a pretty low haircut. After the competition everyone couldn’t help but talk about how gorgeous she was and she quickly got signed by Wilhelmina Models.

In 2011 she won the Model of the Year award by Arise Magazine at Lagos Fashion Week, and has been featured in fashion magazines including Dazed & Confused, Glass, L’Officiel and i-D Magazine.

The black beauty has also done some runway modelling for brand like Vivienne Westwood, Tory Burch, Mustafa Hassanali, Suno and Louise Gray. She has also starred in Alexander McQueen film tribute and Top Shop campaign, just to name a few of her amazing works.

We won’t say we are crushing on Flaviana because she’s black and beautiful but because she has gone on to make her country proud in so many ways. So many reasons why she is one model to admire in the fashion industry.
