
A woman and her son have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly brutalizing a 12-year-old girl over missing N2,000 in Kwara State.
The two suspects, Adamo Yunusa; aunt to the young girl, and her son, Saheed Yunusa, were arrested at their residence in Ile Oniponmo, Ayelabowo in Oko-Olowo area of the Ilorin metropolis.
It was gathered that the suspects inflicted severe injuries on the minor identified as identified as Sukura Suleiman.
The spokesperson of Kwara NSCDC, Olasunkanmi Ayeni, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
He said the report was brought to the command headquarters by a concerned citizen who got the hint of the severe injuries inflicted on the girl by her aunt.
According to the NSCDC PRO, the suspects alleged that the victim was beaten because she stole the sum of two thousand Naira (N2,000).
He also said that the two suspects would be prosecuted at the end of the investigations.
Speaking on the incident, Muhammed Ibrahim, the NSCDC commandant in the state, said the suspects would be charged in court after investigations are completed.
Ibrahim asked residents to be vigilant and report suspected criminal activities to the command. He added that the command would respond promptly to cases of domestic abuse and security issues across the state.
”He assured the state of the command’s readiness to respond to any security threat.The two suspects shall be taken to the court to face the law”, he said.
