A woman has sparked widespread reactions on social media after claiming she discovered that her husband’s alleged side chick contributed almost ₦1 million to help him pay their family house rent during a period of financial hardship.
In a viral video, the woman narrated how she allegedly found WhatsApp messages showing that the woman sold one of her iPhones and one of her wigs to raise money for her husband.
She said the discovery left her shocked and questioning whether side chicks now help married men pay family bills.
According to the woman, she and her husband had been together for many years and built their lives from nothing.
“When I met this man, he was very, very poor,” she said, adding that they struggled together until “the blessings of God” changed their situation.

She claimed that after her husband became financially successful, his attitude towards their marriage changed.
She said: “As usual now, every African, or should I say 90% of African men will do this. When they start making money, that’s when they start to show you characters that you don’t understand.”
The woman alleged that her husband also began cheating on her after becoming financially comfortable.
Although she admitted she was hurt, she said she accepted that many men cheat and continued with the marriage while remaining cautious.
According to the woman, things later took a turn for the worse as her husband’s finances declined.
She claimed he began struggling to meet financial responsibilities and initially kept the challenges from her.
However, she said she eventually noticed because she is his wife and could see changes in the family’s finances.
She alleged that he started struggling to pay their children’s school fees despite previously paying them without difficulty.
The woman also claimed that paying their house rent became a major challenge.
She explained that her husband normally settled the rent at least a month before it became due, but this time he could not.
“I didn’t even know that things had gotten so bad for him until it was time to pay our rent and I saw the way he was struggling,” she said.
The woman admitted that her husband eventually approached her and asked whether she had money to help him pay the rent.
She revealed that she actually had the money but deliberately told him she did not.
Explaining her decision, she said: “I have the money but I told him I don’t have because I don’t see any reason why I should be paying rent for our house when my husband is unfaithful.”
She continued: “Call me whatever you want to call me… Judge me if you want.”
According to her, she believed it was no longer her responsibility to rescue him after years of alleged infidelity.
She said she watched him repeatedly negotiate with their landlord and beg for additional time to avoid eviction.
During that period, she said she had already prepared herself mentally for the possibility that they might lose the house.
“If at the end of the day this man cannot pay this rent, I’ll just take me and my kids to my parents’ house and start living with my parents,” she said.
She added that her husband’s alleged cheating had destroyed the love she once had for him.
“The love died,” she said.
She explained that if the same situation had happened years earlier, she would have willingly supported him financially because she still loved him then.
The woman said her husband spent months trying to persuade the landlord to give him more time.
She clarified that although money was tight, the family still had food to eat.
She said: “Although we’re still eating though. It’s not like there was no food to eat.”
Eventually, after months of struggling, her husband succeeded in paying the rent.
She recalled seeing how relieved and happy he looked after finally settling the debt.
According to the woman, a few weeks after the rent was paid, she picked up her husband’s phone because her own phone was having issues.
She insisted she was not searching through his phone to monitor his activities.
Instead, she said she wanted to use his phone to sort out an internet-sharing issue.
While using the device, she claimed a WhatsApp notification suddenly appeared.
The message was allegedly from one of her husband’s side chicks.
She said she initially ignored it because she already believed her husband was cheating.
However, curiosity got the better of her.
“I just wanted to be curious,” she explained.
She opened the chat and began scrolling through earlier conversations.
According to the woman, the messages showed the alleged side chick comforting her husband during his financial difficulties.
She claimed the woman repeatedly encouraged him not to lose hope and promised to help him raise money for the rent.
As she continued reading, she said she discovered messages showing that the woman eventually contributed about 70 per cent of the rent.
She claimed the woman sold one of her iPhones and one of her wigs to raise money.
According to her, the total amount allegedly given to her husband was close to ₦1 million.
She said: “Apparently, the money that my husband got to pay our rent, it was the side chick that gave my husband about 70% of it.”
She added: “This girl sold one of her iPhones and sold one of her wigs and gave it to my husband.”
The woman claimed her husband assured the alleged side chick that he would repay the money.
The woman said the discovery left her stunned.
Instead of reacting with anger, she said she simply laughed while reading the conversations.
She questioned whether side chicks had begun taking on responsibilities she never expected.
She said: “I thought side chicks were just there for the benefit. I thought side chicks were just there to enjoy.”
She also wondered whether the woman had genuinely fallen in love with her husband.
According to her, the level of sacrifice suggested there might have been promises made behind the scenes.
She said: “Except maybe my husband has promised her marriage. That’s what I’m thinking.”
Concluding the video, the woman asked viewers whether they had ever experienced a similar situation.
She specifically asked married women whether they had ever discovered that a bill paid by their husbands was actually financed by a side chick.
She also directed a question at women involved in relationships with married men.
“Those of you that are side chicks, do you used to help your sugar daddies pay their bills?” she asked.
The woman added that she personally could never imagine helping a married boyfriend settle his financial responsibilities.
She ended the video by asking viewers whether they believed the alleged side chick acted out of genuine love or because she had allegedly been promised marriage.
