A Nigerian lady has stirred reactions online after revealing why she deliberately denied knowing her former secondary school classmate she met by chance.
The lady shared her experience on X (formerly Twitter), where her post quickly gained attention and sparked debate among users.
According to the lady, she ran into her old schoolmate while going about her day. However, the meeting did not end on a friendly note.
She claimed the former classmate, who was driving a luxury car, greeted her confidently and said she recognised her from their secondary school days.
The X user, identified as @wunmiiberry, said she felt irritated by the sudden familiarity, especially because it came when her old schoolmate was driving a Lexus.
She suggested that the recognition felt forced and unnecessary, which influenced her reaction.
Explaining her action, the lady openly admitted that she intentionally ignored the greeting.
In her words: “I just denied my secondary school mate, she dey inside Lexus dey tell me say she sabi me. Rvbbish. Secondary school mate but na inside Lexus memory come back?”
The statement quickly went viral and drew mixed reactions from Nigerians online.
While some social media users agreed with her, saying people often remember others only when success is visible, many others criticised her attitude.
Some commenters described her response as unnecessary and rude, arguing that old school connections should be respected regardless of social status.
