New Super Eagles invitee Cyriel Dessers has revealed that he was very close to joining Celta Vigo in La Liga in January, but Dutch club Heracles Almelo rejected the move.

“In my head I was almost at Celta, but Heracles blocked the transfer,” the striker told La Derniere Heure.

“They needed their top scorer (laughs).

“I also spoke with SPAL, but the club were last in Serie A and that didn’t really appeal to me.”

Dessers will go on to finish top scorer in the Dutch top flight with 15 goals and he has since returned to Belgium after hometown club KRC Genk put up four million Euros.
