Newell’s Old Boys vice-president D’Amico has insisted that Lionel Messi return to Barcelona is highly possible and it could happen in the nearest future following the refusal to extend his deal at Camp Nou with the La Liga giants.
Messi has informed Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu of his desire not to extend his deal and consider an exit at the end of the coming season.
The Argentine is prepared to see out his current deal and leave next year and D’Amico aware of the speculation told TNT Sports: “Messi’s return? I do not know if it is impossible.
This decision is up to him and his family. As leaders, we must have the best possible context to help him make a decision.
“When (Diego) Maradona came to Newell’s, nobody thought he was going to come. I hope it will be the same with Leo. Of course, don’t sell smoke, it’s a touchy subject. Which Newell’s supporter would not dream of being able to see the best current player in the club jersey?
“You have to be patient.”
Messi might not sign any club in Europe so he might consider a move to North America or South America.
