“Nigeria could have been like America today if it had two Tinubus as president” – Edo governor

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying Nigeria would be like the United States (US) if it had produced two presidents with similar leadership qualities.

Speaking during a campaign rally in Esan Central ahead of the forthcoming Edo Central by-election, Okpebholo hailed Tinubu’s leadership and economic reforms, describing them as transformative for the nation.

“The president we have today, if Nigeria had had two of such presidents, Nigeria would’ve been like America,” he told supporters.

Okpebholo highlighted Tinubu’s efforts to stabilise the economy through tax reforms, pointing to recently assented tax reform bills as examples of progress under his administration.

The governor also pledged strong electoral support for Tinubu in 2027, saying, “I, your son, have promised Mr. President 2.5 million votes. By the grace of God, come 2027, we’re going to deliver that vote to Mr. President.”

Before becoming governor in November last year, Okpebholo served as the Senator representing Edo Central.

He resigned from the National Assembly upon assuming office and has since been actively mobilising support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of upcoming elections.
