Nigeria To Become Leading Agricultural Exporter By 2025Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming Nigeria into a global agricultural export powerhouse by 2025. Speaking on Tuesday at The Road to South-South National Convergence for Renewed Hope Agenda event, held at the Conference Centre of the State House, Abuja, Tinubu emphasized the potential of agriculture to reshape Nigeria’s economy.

Represented by the Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, the President outlined his vision for food security and economic growth through the “Project Earn from the Soil” initiative. He described the program as a catalyst to transition subsistence farming into a thriving export-driven sector.

“In this wise, the vision of my administration is clear: By 2025, we will position Nigeria as a leading agricultural export nation,” Tinubu said. “To this end, my administration will give necessary support to the implementation of the laudable Project Earn from the Soil to achieve its set objectives.”

The President also highlighted the untapped potential of the South-South region, emphasizing its wealth of resources beyond oil and gas. “This region is very blessed in natural resources beyond oil and gas. Apart from its rich culture, the South-South is blessed with extraordinary human capacity and talents in many fields of human endeavors that have done our country proud globally,” Tinubu stated.

The event, organized by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-South), also served as the launchpad for the National Convergence for the Renewed Hope Agenda, a strategic blueprint designed to spur economic development with the South-South region leading the charge.

Minister Momoh praised the initiative, describing it as “a significant milestone in our nation’s journey of economic transformation.” He added that the program aligns with the administration’s broader goal of empowering communities to ensure national progress.

The Impact Report, unveiled during the event, highlighted key milestones achieved under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The report showcased targeted initiatives that have empowered youth, women, and local communities in the South-South region.

Dr. Josephine Johnbull, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-South), lauded the role of grassroots communities in driving development. “To the youth and women, your voice, innovation, and determination are crucial to shaping the future of the South-South and Nigeria at large,” she said. “As we amplify the Renewed Hope Agenda, let us ensure every Nigerian feels the impact of our collective efforts.”

The event concluded with renewed calls for collaborative efforts to harness the South-South’s resources, positioning it as a driver of Nigeria’s economic renaissance.
