A Nigerian journalist, Salim Umar Ibrahim, who works with the Daily Trust, has narrated how a suspected thief broke into his house and carted away all the food items.
Salim, who disclosed this in a Facebook post at the weekend, said the thief didn’t take any valuable items in his house except some metal objects.
According to him, the thief even ate some leftover food before leaving.
“Today, I woke up to a stealing activity, all the food stuff in my house was taken away. From the 25kg bag of rice which not even a quarter was used to Spaghetti, Macaroni, seasoning and vegetable oil was emptied,” he wrote.
But, whoever the thief was, is a hungry fellow because even the remnants of cooked food left by my son last night were eaten.
Nothing else was taken beside food stuff except some metal objects – my car’s some replaced brake discs, worn out brake pads and other metals that can weigh in reasonable kilograms to fetch him some money.
Alhamdulillah, I felt at ease when one of my brother’s wedding boxes (brand new), more than half of the textile materials bought to fill the boxes were spared. And these items were not far away from the food stuff.
Also, my cooking gas cylinder which was beside the vegetable oil he emptied was spared because i believe it was too heavy for him to move easily as it was refilled just yesterday.
NOTE: This is a reflection of what the society has found itself in. Everybody is hungry!
