Governors in the Northcentral region of Nigeria have called on president Muhammadu Buhari to contest in the upcoming 2019 presidential elections.PoliticsNGR learnt that governors Samuel Ortom of Benue, Simon Lalong of Plateau, and Tanko Al-makura or Nassarawa states respectively have announced their support for the president’s 2019 ambition.

The decision was made at the Northcentral meeting of the national committee of Buhari support groups in Abuja. A motion was raised by the ex-governor of Benua, Senator George Akume which was seconded by all the APC supporters at the meeting.

Akume in his speech pointed out that 4 years was too small for leaders to record lasting milestones.

“For 2019, there is no credible presidential candidate for the APC other than Buhari,”

Lalong, on the other hand, said that major stakeholders in his state had already moved a motion to compel the President to seek re-election.
