Not even the military damaged our national life Like APC – Atiku

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of inflicting serious damage on Nigeria’s national life, describing the current administration as the worst he has experienced in his political career.

Atiku made the remarks at a book launch. He said he was encouraged by the ability of politicians from different backgrounds to come together under the ADC.

He described the ADC as offering a unique political opportunity, noting that it brings together people of diverse political leanings with a shared goal of reuniting Nigeria and renewing its democratic journey.

“If there is anything positive in our recent political development, it is this coming together to rescue the country from what I consider the worst administration I have witnessed in nearly four decades of political life,” Atiku said.

“Not even the military dictatorships before 1999 damaged our national life and consciousness in the way this administration has done,” he added.

Atiku said many of those present at the event were involved in the formation of the APC, which he said had failed to deliver on its promise of rescuing the country.

“Many of us here were part of the formation of the APC. Unfortunately, what we believed would rescue the country has not happened,” he said.

He called for renewed collective effort to build an alternative political platform capable of addressing Nigeria’s challenges. “Just as we once took responsibility to come together and form a political alternative, we must again come together to ensure the emergence of a new political organisation capable of salvaging this country for the benefit of its people,” Atiku said.
