One day we will wake up and the air will be taxed – Kenyan woman shocked after receiving $225 bill for food she ate at a wedding in US

A Kenyan woman, Nafula Sharleen has narrated how she ended up paying $225 for the food she ate at wedding she was invited to in the US.

Nafula, who shared her experience in a Facebook post on Friday, October 31, said she didn’t know the bride and groom personally but had received the invite from her white best friend’s friend, unaware that guests are expected to pay for their meals as a way of supporting the couple.

According to her, the wedding was held at a high-end hotel, meticulously organised, attentive servers and a sumptuous menu with arrays of delicious dishes.

“USA can show you pepe! I was invited by my mlami best friend to her friend’s wedding. The menu for the wedding was fire. It included rib eye steaks, filet mignon, flank, wagyu etc. There was chicken on the menu, but who is looking at chicken with all the meat choices at my disposal,” she wrote.

Nafula the way I like food za bure at weddings. I ordered a ribeye with a side of broccoli, sautéed vegetables and lemon water right? The food was slapping.

The servers were alert and everything you needed was supplied in a timely manner. That should have been my red flag! The Wedding venue was at this high end hotel that we needed to be badged in, again second clue!

When we were done eating, the tables were cleared and again, the servers wasted no time to remove dishes. Ladies and gentlemen………….tell me why I get a bill of $225 with only 10% covered by the bride? Who is out here paying for food at weddings?

As a matter of fact, I didn’t even know who was getting married at this point, my friend did. Nani analipisha mluhya chakula kwa harus? That was my introduction to rich people weddings majuu. Ati food is to support the couples, thats why they charge. Nafula being there is the support……Well……in their defense, it was written in fine print on the wedding invitation, that guests will be required to pay for food. But who is reading fine prints on wedding invitations? On an invitation, I only look for the date, time, venue and dress code.

Then, wedding gifts the couple accepted were cash, checks, gift cards etc. Hakuna gifts za vikombe na masahaniEse khayo! So that how I stopped going to rich people weddings, unless they confirm food will be free. Let me save baby shower shocker story for another day. USA you pay for everything. One day we will wake up and the air will be taxed.
