Opunimi Akinkugbe Walks Son Down The Aisle On His Wedding Day 

Nigerian ambassador to Greece, Opunimi Akinkugbe, has revealed that her son gave her the opportunity to walk him down the aisle on his wedding day, IGBERETV reports.

Akinkugbe, who is also a financial education expert, revealed that the honour was unexpected but one she accepted when her son requested it.

She wrote on her Instagram handle;

“Traditionally, the role of the Mother of the Groom is much more limited than that of the mother of the bride. It’s usually at the discretion of the couple.

It was thus such a pleasure to receive a lovely message from my son on 23rd March asking if I would like to walk with him down the aisle! I’m more used to the groom walking with his best man, but i’ve never said yes so fast!!

It was one of the most special moments of my life being escorted by my son to my seat in the front row and then on to his position ready to receive his beloved Rekha!We were followed closely behind by my husband and the bride’s mother. A lovely touch.

I walked with the confidence that his choice of a life partner, our beautiful daughter Rekha, is perfect, by God’s Grace.

Choice of music for our mother-son dance was a no-brainer. “Blessed” by @wizkidayo!

I feel truly blessed and pray that God will continue to bless their union and keep them through life’s journey.
