Origi: Only a second goal was missing
Liverpool striker Divock Origi said he was happy with his team’s performance in their 1-1 Europa League draw at Borussia Dortmund — but knows they had chances to secure a first-leg lead.
Origi justified Reds boss Jurgen Klopp’s decision to start him with an impressive display, scoring the opening goal in the first half.
But the Belgian also missed a one-on-one chance on the stroke of half-time and Dortmund captain Mats Hummels equalised soon after the break.
Apart from that, Liverpool were rarely troubled in the second half and Origi told beIN Sports only one thing was missing. “The second goal, quite simply” he said. “I had two clear chances. It’s a pity.
“But that’s football, so now we have to move forward. We’re confident for the second match.
“It’s a very good result. They’re a very good team — second in the German league. For us, it’s important to remain focused. I think that at our place, with our supporters, this game is going to be very interesting.
“To play at Dortmund in a stadium like that, we knew that it was going to be difficult — but we have a good team.”
Origi, 20 was given a starting place ahead of Daniel Sturridge as former Dortmund manager Klopp returned to his old club.
And he said he believed he was now starting to make a mark at Anfield, adding: “I feel the support of everyone here.
“Everyone is ready to help me, including the supporters. I try to enjoy myself, to play my game.
“Now I’m starting to get my bearings, so I hope that for the rest of the season it will go well.”
