“Outsmarting Kogi’s govt roadblocks with a helicopter was my husband’s idea” – Natasha

Embattled Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has revealed that her husband was behind the idea of using a helicopter for her recent visit to her constituency, describing it as a strategic move to avoid what she termed “traps” set by the Kogi State government.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday night, Natasha Akpoti explained that the state government had placed restrictions on political gatherings and convoys just ahead of her scheduled homecoming for a Sallah party in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area.

According to the senator, her husband came up with the helicopter plan after access roads leading to her house were reportedly blocked.

It was my husband’s idea. Since all roads leading to my house were blocked, he suggested we use a helicopter instead,” she disclosed.

Despite the restrictions, a large crowd of supporters turned out to receive her in Ihima.

Addressing the gathering, she reaffirmed her deep ties to the community, declaring: “This is my home, this is my town. Nobody and nothing can stop me from coming home. I am the daughter of the late Dr. Abdul Akpoti.”

She defended the legality of her actions, stating that the event took place on her private property.

I didn’t break any law. The gathering took place on my property. I built the road leading to my house. So, there was no law broken,” she said.

The Kogi State government had earlier justified the restrictions, citing security concerns.

However, many of Natasha Akpoti’s supporters believe the move was politically motivated and intended to silence opposition voices.
