Pastor jailed 15 years for raping woman under pretense of spiritual healing

A 42-year-old pastor has been slapped with 15 years jail terms for raping a 25-year-old woman under the pretense of spiritual healing.

The Mahwelereng Regional Court has slapped the pastor with a 15-year jail term for the crime he committed in 2022 at  Masodi village.

Information from the Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the pastor manipulated the lady into believing that she had a spiritual problem and needed deliverance.

A 42-year-old man abused his powers and raped a vulnerable woman after making her believe she had a condition that needed “spiritual intervention,” Ledwaba said.

The man of God was able to rape the victim after she brought her ailing mother to him for prayers.

Pastor reportedly asked the victim to undress so she could undergo spiritual steaming. The pastor raped the victim during the supposed spiritual steaming.

The lady filed a complaint of rape at the police station and was taken over by the Mokopane Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit, with Sergeant Lesetja Langa leading the investigation.

The pastor has been jailed for rape after he was found guilty.
