A Nigerian photographer has lamented his arrest by the police for allegedly taking photos.
He was reportedly told to pay ₦100,000 for bail and claimed the officers had a POS agent on standby.
The incident was shared through a series of posts on his page via the popular social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).
According to his account, he was taking street photographs when he was unexpectedly arrested by the police.
He revealed that he was detained in a cell and asked to pay ₦100,000 for his release. “They want ₦100k,” he wrote.
In an update, he disclosed that he eventually paid ₦30,000 before being released. “I paid ₦30k for my freedom. I’m out now! But this is ridiculous,” he added.
The photographer further revealed that he met several others at the station who had also been arrested for taking photos.
“While I was in there, I met these guys who had been arrested for simply taking pictures with their phones. As it turns out, the station has a zero-tolerance policy on cameras,” he wrote.
