Police Arrest Suspect Who Defilled, Killed A Child In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command said it arrested a suspect, Jibrin Yusuf, 25, for allegedly raping and killing a seven-year-old girl at Kanon-Haki village, Faskari LGA, Katsina State.

ASP Sadiq Abubakar, the spokesman of the Katsina State Police Command, disclosed the incident in a statement.

According to him, the father of the victim, Hassan Jibrin, had, on August 2, 2023, employed the suspect to convey fertiliser from one of his farms to the other, situated on the outskirts of the village.

Realising that the little girl was left alone to watch over the fertiliser, the suspect forcefully dragged her to a nearby farm, where he raped her and then used a sharp knife to slit her throat.

He thereafter moved the corpse to another farm, covered it with leaves, and made off with three bags of fertiliser.

Detectives investigating the case had arrested the suspect, who reportedly confessed to the rape and murder of the seven-year-old. The stolen bags of fertiliser were also recovered from him.
