Police confirm assault on corps member stripped completely naked  by Anambra vigilante; provide update on probe (video)

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed that a National Youth Service Corps member, Jennifer Elohor, was assaulted by members of the state security outfit. 
 

The Command, in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, on Tuesday, August 19, disclosed that ongoing investigation into the assault and public stripping of Ms. Elohor by vigilante members has been hampered due to her failure to appear. 
 

A video that went viral yesterday, August 19, showed the assault on Ms. Elohor which occured on July 23, 2025. 

On the fateful day, a vigilante group identified as Operation Udo Ga-Achi, also known as Agunechemba Vigilante Group, stormed a lodge and accused corps members of engaging in cybercrime (Yahoo Yahoo). 
 

The corps members were said to have immediate displayed their uniforms and identity cards, yet, this did not prevent the attack on Elohor. 

The operatives were seen beating the female corps member despite her cries for help. In the process, her clothes were torn, leaving her completely exposed as the beating continued.

The assault has sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians condemning the actions of the vigilante group and demanding justice for the victim. 

The state police command disclosed that the suspects involved have been identified and arrested. 

The statement read: “The Command notes that the alleged victim’s unavailability has temporarily stalled the ongoing investigative process.” 

The Command, however, reiterated that assault in any form remains a criminal offence under the Nigerian Law and that it reserves the right to take necessary legal action to aid the court proceedings while waiting for the victim. 

“The Command hereby reassures Corps members serving across the State of its unwavering commitment to their protection, urging them to always report incidents of harassment, intimidation, or abuse for prompt intervention. 

“The Command further cautions vigilante groups and other quasi-security outfits against acts of brutality or abuse of authority, warning that any such misconduct will not be condoned,” the statement added.
