Portuguese club, Belenenses signed former home-based Super Eagles captain Chima Akas from Swedish side Kalmar FF.

The 25-year-old left-back has been on the books of Swedish side for a year and a half and made 31 league appearances with six coming this season which just got underway while he made 25 in his debut season at the club.Akas signed a three years contract with Belenenses plus option of another with the club confirming his ability to play as a central defender aside his role as a left full-back as part of the reason why he was signed. The Ibadan-born captained the Nigeria B team at the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda before his sojourn to Europe.Akas also previously played for Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan and the defunct Sharks of Port Harcourt before moving to Kalmar from Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Enyimba in 2018 made 24 league appearances for the club.Akas is expected to watch today’s Portuguese Primeira Liga clash between Belenenses and their hosts, Portominense from the stands.
