Pregnant Kenyan Student Accuses Her Nigerian Boyfriend Of Raping Her In India
NOIDA: A 25-year old Nigerian national was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a woman in Greater Noida. The accused, Obina, is a B-Tech dropout from Sharda University. The victim, a resident of Kenya, has also completed a bachelor programme in nursing from the same university recently. Police said the duo knew each other and also lived together for some time.
Sudhir Kumar Tyagi, SHO Kasna police station said that the duo came in contact to each other in the University.
“The accused was pursuing a B.Tech programme and the woman studied a programme in nursing. Obina dropped his studies over some personal issues and started living in Sector C-5 in Greater Noida. The woman also started living with him since May 2016,” he said.
Their relations turned sour when the woman recently got pregnant. On Thursday she reached police station accusing the man of rape. The woman in her complaint said that she was drugged and raped by the accused on several occasions.
The police registered a case of rape under Section 302 of IPC and arrested the accused. During interrogation, the accused told police that they were in love with each other and had planned for marriage. “The accused said that he was ready for the marriage with the girl,” said Tyagi.
Police said that the accused’s visa has expired and he was also living illegally.
“The victim has also completed her studies. They will be deported to their respective countries after all legal formalities,” said police.
