Sergio Ramos has broken another record in Spain 4-0 win over Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday evening.
The defender scored two first-half goals to beat Daniel Passarella’s record as the defender with most international goals.
Ramos scored in the second minute from the spot to equal the former Argentine defender on 22 goals before going on to get his 23rd.
Ramos has now scored 23 goals for the La Roja in his 70 appearances compared to the 172 caps that Passarella took to reach 22 which makes him the most prolific defender in the history of football.
The Real Madrid defender has scored and his eighth of 10 taken for his country in all.
Ramos is now on a level with Real Madrid legend Alfredo di Stefano for Spain goals and next on the sight of the Seville born defender is Emilio Butragueno’s total of 26 goals for the country.
Ramos will team up with his rest Real Madrid teammates ahead of the La Liga resumption on this weekend, though Real Madrid will not be in action until the second week against Real Sociedad.
