President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned businessman and founder of the defunct Diamond Bank, Pascal Dozie, who died on Tuesday at the age of 85.
In a statement released by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Dozie as “a rare breed business leader whose wisdom, humility, and pioneering efforts laid a foundation upon which many continue to build.”
Dozie, who was also the former Chairman of MTN Nigeria, was widely celebrated for his immense contributions to Nigeria’s financial and telecommunications sectors.
Mourning the loss, President Tinubu said the death of Dozie was “a profound loss to the private sector and Nigeria,” reflecting on his enduring impact on the nation’s economy and entrepreneurial landscape.
The President offered prayers for the peaceful repose of Dozie’s soul and extended heartfelt condolences to his wife, children, and extended family.
In honour of the late business mogul, President Tinubu urged the Nigerian private sector to emulate his legacy by upholding the values he stood for—integrity, innovation, and nation-building.
