Marcus Rashford says Manchester United need to show the same levels of confidence as Barcelona did against them in the Champions League last season.
United exceeded expectations last year when they overcame Paris Saint-Germain to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League, before being beaten by Barcelona in the last eight.
The Catalan giants secured a comfortable 4-0 win over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side on aggregate, and Rashford was blown away by the confidence which they showed over two legs.
The United forward likened their approach to that of his own side when they won the Europa League in 2017, and he is looking to instill the same winning mentality back at Old Trafford.
“I remember when we was in the Europa League the year that we won it,” Rashford told BT Sport.
“Going into the tournament we felt we had a chance of winning it. I feel like we performed in the manner of a team that was going to win the tournament and when we played against Barcelona over those two legs, I feel that is what they had over us.
“They looked in control of the game and it was something which has always stuck in my mind since that game.
“Since that game I have always gone onto the pitch trying to show that confidence and belief that my team is going to win.”
