Alvaro Odriozola is currently on loan at Bayern Munich from Real Madrid, but the right-back already has it in his mind that he would like to return to Real Sociedad.
The 24-year-old departed La Real for Los Blancos in the summer of 2018, but he had to make do with being Dani Carvajal’s backup until he went out on loan in January.
In the third episode of the Amazon series ‘Futbolistas por el Mundo (Footballers around the World), Odriozola stated his intention to re-join La Real.
This episode is dedicated to Javi Martinez, Odriozola’s teammate at Bayern, and in one of the scenes, the two Spaniards and Lucas Hernandez are all having lunch with Johanes Mosmang, the German club’s head of international relations and a facilitator for foreign players.
Martinez, during the lunch, spoke about how beautiful San Sebastian is and, later, he emphasised the good relationship he has with Odriozola.
“Munich is spectacular, but for one season,” Odriozola stated, who then asked Martinez if he would like to re-join Athletic Club.
“I, for one, would like to return to Real Sociedad,” the right-back said.
Odriozola will return to Real Madrid in the summer and it will be there that he will discuss his future.
In the last few days he himself has been linked with Athletic, but Los Leones have not made any push for a potential loan deal or possible purchase.
Regardless, Odriozola’s priority is the Reale Arena rather than San Mames.
