Real Madrid claimed three points against Getafe but it came at a cost as Raphael Varane left the field dazed in the first half at the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium.

Varane has been untouchable in the lineup ever since the start of the season and he has not even missed a minute since the La Liga return but he suffered a huge injury when the ball smack his face when he was trying to defend a corner in the 20th minute of the game.

The French defender was unable to continue and during the water break he communicated it to the team doctor and he was withdrawn to the dressing room as Eder Militao made his way in to pair Sergio Ramos in the heart of the defence.

Zidane will have to wait anxiously to get the medical report of the Varane who has been one of his most reliable players this season.

Varane could miss the trip to San Mames to face a tricky test against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
