It has been revealed the reason why Ousmane Dembele move to Manchester United crashed in the last minute of the transfer deadline.

Dembele was one of the players on the transfer list of Manchester United but the move fell through on the deadline day.

The Frenchman was a target for the Red Devil after they fail to price Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona wanted to sell the Frenchman to raise cash to sign Lyon attacker Memphis Depay who is tagged £23m and Manchester United refused to sign him at that point.

Barcelona at the latter stage wanted a loan deal and the board wanted him to sign a contract extension until 2023 and Manchester United is no longer interested in taking him on loan at that point.

Dembele refused advances from Barcelona and the move collapsed — as did Barca’s plan for Depay, with La Liga chiefs stepping in to block the move as the Catalan club could not afford the fee. Dembele is keen on leaving in the next transfer period.
