Two persons lost their lives yesterday following a clash between Hausa traders and some youths in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Our reporter learnt that fight ensued when some indigenous youths who operate as a taskforce went to Opaku park in Onne and demanded payment from Hausa traders doing business there.
A witness said the youths became angry when the traders declined paying them money, which resulted to a fight that led to the death of one of the taskforce members.
The witness said the taskforce in turn became enraged and started fighting the traders, thereby causing another death.
It was also gathered that the fight led to the burning of a Mosque and a Church in the area.
Remarking, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, said, “I am yet to get full details of it but we have swung into action. We will make the report available as soon as we are through.”
