Gernot Rohr revealed that he will not beg Arsenal star Bukayo Saka & QPR midfielder Eberechi Eze to play for Super Eagles in the future.
The born-London players and some other players are eligible to represent three-time African Champions, despite representing England at the youth level.
Eze trained with the Super Eagles in March 2017, when they visited London for friendlies against Burkina Faso but the young midfielder has been in great form for QPR where he scored 12 goals from 39 appearances.
Saka has featured 29 times and scored three goals plus creating 10 assists which have led to talks about a possible call up to the senior national team of England despite Arsenal struggles this season.
Rohr said via ESPN players must first interest in playing for Nigeria before an invitation can be extended to them.
“We have good players in several positions but we are still open to having more. For players who have already represented another country, it’s not easy to have them cleared to play for Nigeria.
“However, we don’t beg any player. If they want to play they should call me to indicate their interest like Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, and Joe Aribo. It’s not the wise thing to beg them to play for Nigeria, we want players who are committed to making Nigerians happy.” He added.
Rohr has signed a new contract extension with Nigeria Football Federations to continue as Super Eagles until 2022.
