Nigerian cleric Sarah Omakwu has raised concerns over what she described as unequal treatment in the government’s handling of security challenges across different regions of the country.
Speaking on the state of the nation, she alleged that authorities respond more aggressively to unrest in the southeastern region compared to incidents in the north.
According to her, security forces are often heavily deployed in the East during periods of tension, while similar or more severe situations elsewhere do not attract the same level of response.
Omakwu expressed frustration over what she perceives as inconsistency in enforcement and decision-making, suggesting that such disparities contribute to growing dissatisfaction among citizens.
Her words…
“The government is failing. I see two standards, one for the north and one for the south. Whenever a few Igbo boys have gotten angry and acted or reacted, they send Air Force, Navy and military to go and stop them, they take armored tanks to the East. But we see Fulani boys, stand speak on the internet, they say anything, do anything and nothing moves. Instructions are given for nobody to move”.
