A Nigerian student has shared a troubling account of alleged sexual harassment during her Industrial Training (IT), accusing her supervisor of refusing to sign her logbook after she rejected his advances.
The story, posted on X (formerly Twitter), has sparked outrage online, with many calling for stronger protection for students in workplaces.
In her post, the lady explained that the issue began just days after she resumed her IT placement.
She wrote, “My IT supervisor refused to sign my logbook because I wouldn’t sleep with him.”
According to her, the supervisor privately told her he liked her and wanted to “take care of me.”
When she questioned his marital status, she said, “Sir, aren’t you married?”
He admitted he was married but claimed his family lived outside Nigeria and he only visited once every three months.
She responded firmly, “Sir, I don’t do married men oo.”
Despite her refusal, she alleged that he continued to pressure her.
She claimed he began sending her money daily, including weekends, describing it as “lunch money.”
She also said he repeatedly invited her to his house, but she declined each time.
Concerned about the situation, she informed her father.
Her father reportedly advised her to be cautious and warned her never to visit the man’s house.
The situation escalated shortly before the end of her training.
She stated that she submitted her logbook for signing three days before completing the programme.
Although he initially accepted it, she said he later issued a condition on the final day.
She quoted him as saying, “You’ll have to come to my house to pick it, or forget about it.”
According to her, the implication was clear — refusal could mean an “automatic extra year.”
Distressed, she said she immediately contacted her father and gave him the supervisor’s phone number.
Moments later, she claimed the supervisor entered the general office, dropped her logbook on the table, and loudly said, “CONGRATULATIONS!”
