Six family members returning from funeral die in auto crash

Six family members who died in a horrific car accident have been laid to rest in South Africa. 

The victims, all from Unitaspark in Vereeniging, Gauteng province, were buried on Saturday, July 19, 2025 following an emotional ceremony attended by devastated relatives, friends, and community members. 

The family had been returning from a funeral in KwaZulu-Natal when their vehicle, a white Ford Focus, collided with a truck along the R42 Meyerton–Heidelberg Road at about 15:30 on Monday afternoon, July 14, 2025.

The deceased were identified as David Khehla Malindi (68), Anna Malindi (61), Mhlanganisi Malindi (35), Phindile Malindi (33), Xolani Bocibo (27) and Lwandle Malindi Tshabalala (3). 

The loss has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing their deep condolences and calling for improved road safety measures on the busy road.
