Luciano Spalletti is “still on Milan’s radar for next season” as doubts grow over whether Ralf Rangnick will arrive, a report claims.
There is widespread speculation in the media at present regarding the future of Milan’s head coach position, with some outlets claiming Rangnick is the man CEO Ivan Gazidis has chosen to take over as manager and sporting director.
However, uncertainty has since crept in given the Coronavirus pandemic which has affected Italy particularly badly, leading to doubts that the German would be willing to undertake such a project in a difficult moment.
According to il Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato.it), Rangnick is still top of the wishlist of the former Arsenal chief, but staying with Stefano Pioli is an option that should not be discarded.
Nonetheless, the paper mentions the possibility of hiring Spalletti, a coach who was heavily linked with Milan after Giampaolo’s sacking in November. The former Inter boss still has a contract until 2021 with the Nerazzurri but is the main alternative to Rangnick in case of separation from Pioli.
